DAVID CARRADINE - 1980
In 1980 actor David Carradine (well-known for his TV series 'Shane') was a
special guest at the South African premiere of the Olivia Newton-John musical
'Xanadu' in Johannesburg. In the picture (left to right) Mrs Youngelson, David
Carradine, Herman Youngelson and myself.
JOHN TRAVOLTA - 1980
At a marketing convention in Los Angeles in June 1980 I had the enormous
pleasure and privilege to meet John Travolta at a private luncheon at the Beverly
Wilshire Hotel in L.A. John had just completed the movie 'Urban Cowboy' for
Paramount Pictures and was in town for magazine interviews when our mutual
friend, David Van Houten (Marketing executive for Paramount), set up the
informal luncheon with John Travolta. Wasn't this my lucky day?
GOLDIE HAWN - 1981
The always sparkling Goldie Hawn,  one on the world's biggest movie stars in 1981, came to
South Africa that year on a promotional tour for her movie 'Private Benjamin' . Wherever she
went she was besieged by both fans and the media alike. Top photo shows Goldie Hawn
arriving with a hefty bodygaurd (on the right) and awestruck me (on the left) for a photo shoot at
the well-known discotheque 'Raffles'.
