sadly taken during the demolition stages of the building. The
seating capacity of the cinema was 907.
      ALVIN
  CAMPS BAY
The Alvin Cinema was situated in Camps
Bay and had a seating capacity of 498.
The Adelphi Kinema was situated in Main Road, Sea Point and
was opened by the Mayor of Cape Town, Councillor the Rev. AJS
Lewis, on 25 September  1930. The Adelphi had a seating capacity of
1076 and also boasted a restaurant and tea room, a children’s
nursery with trained nurses in attendance as well as a ladies' lounge.
The original managing staff of the
Adelphi was George Seymour
(Manager), Luigi Bernard
(Catering Manager) and
J Gold (Chief Projectionist).

The cinema closed in the early  
1980’s and the Adelphi Shopping
Centre now occupies the site
